Terms of Use

FirstSolo.ai is an independent study tool that helps you prepare for the FAA Private Pilot Airplane knowledge test. It generates practice questions from FAA reference material, grades your answers with an AI examiner (the “AI DPE”) modelled on the oral portion of the practical test, and tracks what you have learned.

It is not the FAA knowledge test, not an FAA-approved course, and not a substitute for instruction. We are not affiliated with or endorsed by the Federal Aviation Administration or any testing centre. Using the service does not earn an endorsement, a certificate, a rating or any credit toward one; only an authorized instructor can endorse you to take the knowledge test, and only the FAA issues certificates.

Questions, answer keys, explanations, grades and examiner feedback are produced by artificial intelligence. We take real care — every question is written from cited reference notes and checked by an independent verification step before you see it — but AI makes mistakes, and verification does not catch all of them. A question may be poorly worded, a key may be wrong, an explanation may be outdated as regulations and publications change, and a grade may be unfair.

Treat everything in the service as study material, not authority. The authoritative sources are the current FAA publications — 14 CFR, the Aeronautical Information Manual, the Pilot’s Handbook of Aeronautical Knowledge, the Airplane Flying Handbook, the Airman Certification Standards and the applicable Advisory Circulars — and your certified flight instructor. Verify anything you intend to rely on, especially anything related to the safety of flight, against those sources and with your instructor. Never use the service as a source of operational or in-flight information.

You sign in with a one-time code sent to your email address, or with your Google or Apple account; keeping access to that mailbox and those accounts secure is your responsibility, and everything done from your account is treated as done by you. One person per account; do not share it. You must be at least 13 years old to use the service. You can rename your account or delete it — along with everything in it — at any time from the account page.

The service is paid for with credits. Every new account receives a free opening balance. Credits are charged only for work you see — questions served to you and the AI examiner’s grading, follow-up and discussion turns — at the prices in force when your session started; question writing, verification and retries are never charged. Credits have no cash value, are not transferable, cannot be exchanged for money, and may be withdrawn if they were obtained through abuse of the service. Free opening credits are a promotional grant we may change or discontinue for new accounts. When paid credit packs are introduced, their terms — including any refund rights required by law — will be stated at the point of purchase.

You agree not to:

• use the service in any way that is unlawful, harmful to others, or that interferes with its operation;
• access it by automated means, scrape it, or attempt to extract its question generation, reference notes, prompts or models in bulk;
• create multiple accounts to obtain free credits, or otherwise circumvent limits or pricing;
• attempt to break, probe or bypass its security or the accounts of others;
• resell, sublicense or commercially redistribute the service or its content.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach these terms, and remove content or credits obtained through a breach.

The service, its software, design, and the questions, explanations and other material it generates are ours or licensed to us. FAA publications referenced by the service are works of the United States Government and are cited, not owned, by us. You receive a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the service and its content for your own study. You keep the rights to the answers and messages you write; you grant us a licence to store and process them to provide the service, as described in the Privacy Policy. We do not use them to train AI models.

The service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of accuracy, completeness, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free, that questions or grades will be correct, or that using it will result in passing any test. Your results depend on your own study.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, FirstSolo.ai and the people who operate it will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits or opportunity, arising from or related to the service or its content — including any decision or action taken in reliance on AI-generated material — even if advised of the possibility. Our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid us for it in the twelve months before the claim, or one hundred US dollars, whichever is greater. Some jurisdictions do not allow some of these limitations; in those places they apply only as far as the law allows.

You agree to indemnify us against claims, damages and reasonable costs arising from your breach of these terms or your misuse of the service.

We may change the service — including its features, prices and these terms — and will revise the effective date above when we do. For material changes we will let signed-in users know in the app or by email; continuing to use the service after a change means you accept it. We may suspend or end the service, or your access to it, at any time; you may stop using it or delete your account at any time. Sections 2, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 11 survive termination.

These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and of the state in which FirstSolo.ai is established, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute that cannot be resolved informally will be brought in the courts of that state.
